In the spring of 2001 Colby Miller and Ryan England began writing songs. The mix of Colby's lyrical abilities and Ryan's riffs turned out to be a positive one. Upon returning home from college the cousins joined forces with guitarist Andrew Rosborough to write music all summer long. The boys played shows at local bars in Kokomo, IN to sharpen their sound. With the help of friends of Paul Miller and Andy Kennedy, the trio recorded the self-titled six song EP. At the end of the summer the original members of MYST came back to school at Indiana University. The formula became complete when the band recruited Bassist Benny Applebee and Drummer Rob Herbert. While regularly practicing diligently the band has been working their hearts out to give fans a good blend of musicianship and energetic live shows. Their style of acoustic rock with ties to funk and alternative rock has played very well at Delta Upsilon Fraternity, Rhino's in Bloomington and at local nightclub Vertigo. The Band also has an upcoming gig as the headlining musical act at Indiana University Greek System's largest single house philanthropy The Delta Upsilon Kiss-off. The Kiss-off is a weekend long philanthropy that involves selected contestants kissing a jeep until only one person remains. The band will be playing numerous sets throughout the weekend. Also the band is planning a trip out to New York City to play on the greatest stage in the world. All thought the band only became complete not long ago; they have developed a loyal following. They encourage their fans to be energetic, and try to include them as part of their show. Myst believes that live shows, and music in general, are a way to escape from the troubles of the real world. They want to give people a two-hour break from their normal lives.
